About Maison Jansen :
Maison Jansen was one of the most prestigious French interior design firms of the 20th century, founded in 1880 in Paris by Dutch-born decorator Jean-Henri Jansen. The firm quickly gained an international reputation for creating luxurious interiors that blended classical European elegance with modern design influences.
Maison Jansen became especially influential during the early and mid-20th century, designing interiors for royal families, heads of state, and prominent collectors around the world. The firm was known for its ability to reinterpret historical styles—particularly Louis XVI, neoclassical, and Directoire—while incorporating modern materials and forms.
Among its most famous projects were interiors for the White House during the Kennedy administration, commissioned by Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, as well as residences for European aristocracy and international luxury hotels.
Maison Jansen also produced distinctive furniture and decorative objects, often associated with the Hollywood Regency aesthetic, characterized by refined craftsmanship, elegant lines, and luxurious materials such as gilt metal, brass, glass, and lacquer.
The firm remained influential throughout much of the 20th century before closing in 1989. Today, Maison Jansen furniture and decorative pieces are highly collectible and prized for their craftsmanship, historical significance, and timeless elegance.
