A glamorous and hight quality Renaissance Revival wingback chair and matching ottoman designed by award winning Dutch artist designer Marteen Baas ( born in Germany, 1978). This exquisite set of chair and ottoman has been specially designed for the historic GRAMERCY PARK hotel in NYC. In 2006, Julian Schnabel and Ian Schrager commissioned the Dutch artist/designer Maarten Baas to create these custom velvet Smoke wing chairs and ottomans for Gramercy Park Hotel. Marteen used his famous smoked wood technique where he burned and preserved wood on his pieces , which won him Design Miami’s 2009 Designer of the Year award. Carefully hand-carved and embellished with a dark red velvet upholstery, the chair and ottoman are magnificent and will add elevate the style of any room or design. The chairs and ottomans are a limited edition as only 200 sets were created worldwide. The chair is autographed by the designer Marteen Baas.

About Marteen Bass:
Maarten Baas is a Dutch furniture designer born in Arnsberg, Germany in 1978. He is known for his Real Time series of clocks in which people paint the time by hand. His career path was influenced by mentors like Jurgen Bey, colleagues like like Bertjan Pot, and artists like Erwin Wurm. His smoke collection has been labeled an iconic line of modern design and entered the permanent collections of international museums such as the Victoria & Albert Museum, Groninger Museum and Montreal Museum of Fine Arts.
