Charles Rennie Mackintosh Ingram Art Nouveau Dining Chair for Cassina, Set of 12

This rare, collector-grade set of 12 Charles Rennie Mackintosh "Ingram" dining chairs, produced by Cassina for their "I Maestri" collection, beautifully bridges turn-of-the-century Scottish Art Nouveau with high-end Mid-Century Modern interiors. Originally designed circa 1900 for Glasgow’s Ingram Street Tearooms, this geometric avant-garde suite features ten medium-back side chairs and two commanding high-back end chairs. Every piece is meticulously crafted from solid ash wood in a dark open-pore finish, framing architectural vertical lines and signature pill-shaped cutouts. The padded seats are upholstered in a textured navy blue grid fabric. Stamped and numbered by Cassina during their late-20th-century production era, this iconic set transitions seamlessly into Mid-Century, Postmodern, or Minimalist spaces, offering an exceptional investment-level statement.

About Charles Rennie Mackintosh: Charles Rennie Mackintosh (1868–1928) was a legendary Scottish architect, designer, and artist who became a leading figure of the Art Nouveau movement and the father of the Glasgow Style. Blending Celtic imagery with minimalist Japanese aesthetics, his work favored elongated vertical lines, geometric grids, and stylized floral motifs like the famous "Glasgow Rose."Alongside his wife Margaret Macdonald, her sister Frances, and James Herbert MacNair—a group known as "The Four"—he revolutionized total design, creating everything from building structures to custom furniture, light fixtures, and textiles. His masterworks include the Glasgow School of Art and the Willow Tearooms. Though underappreciated in Britain during his lifetime, his avant-garde geometric furniture deeply influenced European movements like the Vienna Secession, cementing his legacy as a critical pioneer of Modernism.
