$ 7,500.00

19th C French Louis XVI Mahogany & Bronze w Sèvres Style Portraits Salon Table - Table de milieu This exceptional 19th-century French Louis XVI revival mahogany and gilt-bronze center table, dating to circa 1870, beautifully captures the opulent aesthetic and historicist romance of the late Napoleon III era. Masterfully crafted, the piece serves as a magnificent showcase for fine ceramic artistry, featuring an intricate arrangement of hand-painted Sèvres-style porcelain portrait plaques inset directly into the premium wood. At the center is a large, meticulously detailed roundel portraying Queen Marie Antoinette, which is elegantly encircled by eight radiating oval plaques containing portraits of notable women dignitaries and ladies of her royal court. The table's perimeter is highlighted by a finely chased apron featuring highly detailed Neoclassical gilt-bronze ormolu mounts. These side embellishments depict a central cherub or putto mask flanked by blooming floral swags, which cascades down into a dangling ribbon-tied trophy mount terminating in a decorative tassel. The structure rests upon slender, fluted legs capped with matching classical bronze collars that beautifully complement the deep, rich grain of the mahogany. A true table de milieu, this masterwork represents a quintessential statement piece of exceptional quality, making it a highly collectible acquisition for discerning connoisseurs of fine European antiquities.
