A set of two Pierre-Joseph Redoute (Belgium, 1759-1840) botanicals. One botanical is entitled "Bouquet De Camelias, Narcisses Et Pensees" the second one entitled " "Anemone Simple" from Pierre-Joseph Redoute's book: "Choix des plus belles fleurs et de quelques branches des plus beaux fruits. Both botanicals pages are finely matted and presented in a black and gold custom frame adding sophistication to the high collectible and decorative art work.
About the artist:
Pierre-Joseph Redouté (French 10 July 1759 – 19 June 1840), was a painter and botanist from Belgium, known for his watercolours of roses, lilies and other flowers at the Château de Malmaison, many of which were published as large, coloured stipple engravings. He was nicknamed "the Raphael of flowers" and has been called the greatest botanical illustrator of all time.
