An exquisite large impressionistic painting of farmers with cattle in the manner of Julius Paul Junghanns (German, 1876-1958). Julius Paul Junghanns (Born in Vienna , Austria 1876 - Died in Düsseldorf, Germany 1958) was an Austrian artist best known for his animal paintings. His works also portrayed farmers plowing, historical Germanic heroes, and landscapes in a style reminiscent of German Impressionist Max Liebermann and realist artists Rosa Bonheur and Constant Troyon. Born on June 8, 1876 in Vienna, Austria to German parents, the artist grew up in Dresden and attended the Dresden Academy of Art. He went on to study at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich under the guidance of animal painter Heinrich von Zügel, and in 1933 became acting director of the Düsseldorf Academy. Junghanns died on April 3, 1958 in Düsseldorf, Germany. His works are in the collections of the Pinakothek in Munich and the Kunsthalle Düsseldorf, among others. Source: Artnet.
