About Salvador Dali: Salvador Dali was born in Figueras, Spain in 1904. a classically trained artist, Dali is considered one of the greatest draftsmen of the twentieth century, and was the single greatest influence on so many of today’s artists.

About the art work : This work is part of a series of 12 works inspired by botanical illustrations by French pomologist Pierre-Antoine Poiteau, published in 1846, which here are transformed into a surrealist composition.

Created at the time of Dali’s greatest surrealist powers, these 12 engravings and lithographs, each signed by hand by the artist, constitute one of Dali’s finest portfolios. Bursting with color and exquisitely detailed, these images are very meaningful in Dalinian terms. Motivated by the desire to juxtapose seemingly unrelated images and symbols, the artistic effect unites and transforms; to make something new that was never before. Dali succeeds in modifying the meaning of the images, their relationship to each other and essentially creates a new concept and a "way of seeing" in his own surreal, unique and inimitable style.
